Why You Should Choose Gaming Accessories for your Work at Home Office
[Sassy_Social_Share title=”Sharing is Caring!”]
If you have shopped online for any office accessories lately, you may have noticed many accessories designed specifically for gaming in your search results. When I look to replace one of my wired peripherals or add a new one, I have been finding that some of the highest-rated models are designed for gaming.
Gamers use much of the same equipment that you can find in a typical office, especially a work at home office, such as computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and headsets. There are also desks and chairs designed just for the gaming experience.
What I find so interesting about gaming equipment is that these products are usually better quality than those designed for general office use. I’m not surprised at this level of quality because gamers take their craft very seriously and invest a lot of money and time.
If you take working at home as seriously I do, I recommend investing in accessories and equipment that are of gaming quality for your home office.
- Inherently ergonomic
- Sleek designs and exciting colors
- Tends to be better quality because it designed for prolonged regular use
- Tends to cost more than non-gaming products.
Let’s take a look at the office equipment and accessory alternatives that can be found in the gaming world!
Keyboards and Mice
Gaming keyboards and mice are my favorite types of accessories in this niche because of the bright colored lighting effects and customizable features. Because they are designed to be used in a low lighting setting, gaming peripherals are backlit to highlight keys and buttons that are used often during gaming sessions. They also come with downloadable software to customize the functions of some keys and buttons. These same customizable options can be used to add to your own productivity in your work at home tasks.
If you work at home in a customer service position, you are familiar with the need for a good headset for taking and making calls. Gaming headsets are just like those designed for general office work. However, they may are more likely to have well-cushioned earpieces and better speaker audio.
To be considered a good gaming monitor, a model has to feature great display resolution, which means Full HD (1920 x 1080) or better. It also needs to have ergonomic features which generally means the ability to tilt. However, curved monitor designs place the sides of the display more in your peripheral vision which helps reduce the need and degree to which you turn your head when working.
The main features of gaming computers – whether they are desktops or laptops – are 1)faster processors; 2)more RAM; and better cooling capacity. Cool lighting effects are another awesome feature. Having a fast processor and more memory is also great for graphic design and any type of IT positions such as web development.
Gaming chairs are generally designed like office desk chairs but feature a better quality of fabric with trendier colors and print designs. They also have ergonomic features like headrests and footrests in addition to lumbar support and sufficient seat padding.
At first glance, you may mistake a gaming desk for just another office desk, feature ergonomics and accessibility this is not common to the average desk. The front edge of a gaming desk is often curved inward to allow the gamer or their hands more room to maneuver. It also has built-in attachments for monitors, headsets, and cable management. Their sleek metal and colorful designs are also aesthetically pleasing.
I’m not a gamer, but I enjoy the equipment and accessory designs inspired by gaming. I plan to have all of my office products be of gaming quality one day.
